You blend into autumnal colours
Red, orange, yellow and brown
Sweeping boughs of trees
Conceal you.
Your voice cannot be heard
Above the wind
The crunch of dead leaves
The thud of chestnuts.
You fight to read
Your words flutter
Through the ruins, follies, lakes, vineyards
But leaves and poems
Colours and sounds
Will have their way.
