GHOSTS OF THE WOODLAND

Leafy ghosts of
the woodland stand mute
in the enveloping night.

Ancient lights constellate
in heaven’s distant dome,
blooming like flowers from
the ebony spheres of space.

Below, the primal warm waters
of night’s lagoon
feed my body’s love.

And as the leafy ghosts of
the woodland loom silently
in the engulfing night,
my talkative mind leaps
from branch to branch
without being noticed.
