BEAUTY DWELLS
IN THE DARK FOLDS OF NIGHT

after Rousseau (The Sleeping Gypsy)
from the Portfolio “Again . . . Seeing Art Anew” by Adel Gorgy

Out of the dark folds
of a desert dream,
the gypsy & the lion
lie down at dusk
together.
The brush strokes
them to wake
again,
to laugh & roar
at the coming
of the dawn.
